Introducing Albany Avionics

Albany Avionics, an early stage start-up company, has moved into the start-up room in January.

The Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry is one of the fastest growing industries at present. The market is already in the billions and is said to increase by billions a year for the foreseeable future.

Albany Avionics Ltd was created to address a gap in the UAV market which we identified. Our concepts have been tested by Massey University maths department as well as an eminent overseas academic and found to be robust.

We have divided the technical component of the project into 2 parts with one part being worked on at the e-Centre and the other part off campus. The final product and intellectual property will be mainly software driven with a hardware component which consists of some off the shelf components as well as some components which are not available and are being or have been developed by us.

We also do some consulting work and are a member of a robotic industry consortium. We have had input into some government white papers and had interest from a number of government departments to do with our work.

Once we have a proof of concept model, we will be looking for investors and further grants. Our target for the concept model is April this year.
